One of my all time favourite verses would have to be Isaiah 40:31 : but those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. This is a verse that talks about strength and I think it it a promise straight from God. How great would it be if we could automaticaly renew our strength? How unbelievable would it be if we could soar like eagles? How amazing would it be if we could run without being weary and walk without being faint?
I think they key word in this verse is WAIT. Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord. Have you ever heard the song Everlasting God? It's one of my favourites by Chris Tomlin. It's based on these exact verses. The most important part of the song is this: You're the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need, You lift us up on wings like eagles. On wings like eagles. Eagles are one of the most majestic birds known. Knowing that, and knowing that it's from God, can you even begin to imagine life without him? He is promising us that he will renew our strength! He will take care of us. So wait upon the Lord. Pray to him and ask him for guidance. May you work in the path of the Lord.
God Bless!

God's Triathlon
A couple days ago I was volunteering for a triathlon happening in what I consider my second hometown. There was a huge display of participation, perserverance and cheering. I then realized something that I hadn't before. I began to wonder if I could compare a triathlon to God's plan for our lives?
A triathlon is based on three main events: swimming, cycling and running. Add another thing that matters, and that's the training. So basicly there's four important things you need to be able to do for a triathlon. This is what I came up with.
Training- Training for a triathlon is what I'd like to think as the most important thing. How will you improve with your swimming, cycling and running if you don't practice? I think of it as at this point of God's plan for us, we should be praying. Praying for guidance and direction. Spreading his word. Training for whatever plan he has for you because it is bound to be big.
Swimming and Cycling- One thing I never understood was why would the swimming happen before the cycling and running. Wouldn't it be nice if it was in between the events to give the athletes a chance to cool off? And then I realized, it must be so hard to bike when you're soaking wet. You'll keep slipping off the seat. That's a part of God's plan too. If you don't let him lead you, you'll keep slipping away from what he has for you.
Running- I think my favourite part of the triathlon was being able to see the looks of joy on the athletes faces when they crossed the finish line. After all the training and hardwork, they completed something they've always dreamed of doing. They would rush to their cheering families and friends. It got me thinking, wouldn't it be nice when we got to heaven and be able to run into God's arms and hear him say, "Well done my child, I am so proud of you"?
In the end, a triathlon is just like God's plan for your life. Our training is prayer. Our swimming and cycling is listening and acting on it. The end of our running is when we have done God's work and is our reward. Follow his plan for you. And if you don't know what it is yet, pray your heart out. Ask him to show you guidance. I'm still not sure what he wants me to do but I'm praying and I know he'll show me before it's too late. God Bless!

Ephesians 3: 20-21
Right now I'm going to talk about how I knew for the first time that God was going to do something absolutely amazing with my life. Every year I used to go to a huge youth rally in the south of Ontario. The first year I ever went was in eighth grade and naturally, at a younger age you do get pretty nervous about leaving home, even for a short period of time. I was sitting in bed at my cousin's house when I was thinking about it so much that I was starting to make myself sick. She knew as well as I did how nervous I was and made me read out a bible verse over and over again. This verse is Ephesians 3: 20-21. "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly then all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever, Amen." For a reason that only God knows, those verses instantly calmed me down. The next day after a very long drive, we arrived at the community center that was to be used for this rally. As I sat down and the first night officialy started, I looked up onto the giant screen at the front of the room and amazingly it was the exact verses that I had been reading the night before and the entire way there. Even more amazingly, every sermon and speech that weekend was based on those verses. Some people would call this simply a coincidence. I call it God's work.
Moral of the story, God will do great things for you if you let him. Imagine what a weekend I would have missed if I wouldn't have read those verses and ended up not going. I now keep those verses everywhere, in my locker, on my walls, in my wallet. It's something. like God, that will always give me strength.
God Bless!

Welcome to Captured by Christ!
Welcome to my blog, Captured by Christ! This blog will be about many things. Some day I might just post bible verses, their meaning and why they're so important. Other times it will be my own personal stories. Other times it will be about struggles that everyone has. But mostly, it will be about God. The reason I'm starting this blog is because I felt like I wasn't doing enough for God. And what better way to spread his word then on the internet? I've been wanting to write a blog for awhile but whatever subjects I could think of just didn't seem good enough. When I thought about writing this christian blog, I just got an amazing feeling which I know is from God. I decided that I am going to make this blog a huge success and bring many people to Christ. It may take a lot of work, but I can guarantee that someday I am going to make it happen.
God Bless!
